Reviewing your Score Report
Score report results will;
- always be reported directly from our third party testing vendor (PSI)
- Candidates must allow 3-5 business days for us to receive your verified examination results before we can proceed with score entry, verification or re-examination requests
- be reported within within the following timeframes, based on your chosen testing method:
- Remote Proctored Testing (RPT): Within 24 hours of your exam, if not immediately after completion
- Computer-Based Testing (CBT)
- U.S. testing centers: Within 24 hours of your exam, if not immediately after completion
- Outside U.S. or if Web Based Administration: Within 48 hours of your exam, if not immediately after completion
- Paper and Pencil (PNP) exam: Within 6 -8 weeks, though the typical is 4 weeks.
If you do not receive your Score Report immediately following completion of the exam, you will receive a follow up communication directly from PSI.
Your “Score Report” will indicate a “pass” or “fail.” Additionally, it includes raw scores by major content categories. A raw score, which determines your pass/fail status, is the number of questions you answered correctly.
Congratulations! Your certification is valid for two years. You now can use the designation. You may want to use it in professional communication items such as business cards, letters, or in your email signature, among others.
In the weeks following PSI reporting your passing to us, we will;
- Provide you with your digital badge (within one week)
- Mail you an official certificate and other documents (within four weeks)
CCB reserves the right to publicly recognize any candidate who has successfully completed a CCEP or CCEP-I certification exam.
If you do not pass the exam on your first attempt, but you still have the 20 CCB CEUs required (earned within 12 months of the anticipated retesting date) you can apply using the Re-exam option.
Note: The Re-exam option will not be available within your account until we have received your verified examination results from PSI. Please 3-5 business days before we can proceed with score entry, verification or re-examination requests.
A $75.00 non-refundable application fee applies to all Re-exam application requests.
In line with CCB policies and per the handbook if you fail two exam attempts within a 180‑day period, you must wait 180 days from your most recent exam date before applying to retake the exam. The application fee to retake the exam is based on your submitted CEUs. Keeping your CEUs current and submitting additional CEUs as needed to maintain 20 CEUs prior to your eligibility expiration will prevent you from having to pay the full exam application fee.
Examination Development
Your score is based on 100 of the 115 questions on the exam. The remaining 15 questions are unscored pretest items used to gather data and ensure future questions are fair and valid. These pretest items are mixed throughout the exam and are not identified, so it’s important to answer every question to the best of your ability.
Our exam content is developed by Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who write and review questions to ensure they reflect real-world knowledge and best practices in the field. Each question goes through multiple rounds of review to confirm clarity, relevance, and accuracy.
To determine the minimum passing score, we use the Angoff method, where subject matter experts estimate how a minimally qualified candidate would perform on each question. These estimates help set a fair and consistent passing standard for everyone.
Candidates are also involved in the process (indirectly). Before questions are scored, they are included as pretest items on actual exams. This allows us to gather data on how candidates perform on each question, helping us confirm that the questions—and the correct answers—are fair, valid, and appropriately challenging. This real-world data plays a critical role in shaping the final exam.
